Our dog trainers will let you in on simple dog training secrets to teach your Fido to respond when you need him to—not just in class

Interested in joining a Dog-Ed dog training class? Would you like to develop a better understand of your dog's behavior? Learn how to clearly communicate with them? Then join Dog-Ed for this free help session on one of the dates listed below!

 

In this class you will discover how dogs learn, how provide appropriate outlets for natural behaviors to keep your dog behaviorally healthy, and prevent problem behaviors from developing. Learn how to read your dog's body language for clues that tell you if he is relaxed, stressed, threatened, or afraid. This class is open to the public. It is a must for any dog guardian or someone thinking about sharing their life with a dog and a requirement for joining many of the Dog-Ed training classes. These classes are for humans only, please leave your dogs at home. No registration required. If you plan on enrolling Training Games series you must be present for whole class.

Let the games begin! Dog-Ed makes training classes fun and flexible through its Training Games Series small group classes. Once you have attended the required "Unleash the Possibilities" and "Concentration" class, you can pick and choose which classes would benefit you and your dog. Taking the complete series will prepare you for taking the APDT's C.L.A.S.S. Bachelor's evaluation (https://www.mydoghasclass.com/).

CONCENTRATION: Learn how to achieve focus, despite the distractions
New environments, people, and other dogs can be challenging and stimulating for your dog. In this 2-week class, you will learn how to build focus and shift your dog's attention from distractions back to you. This SERIES also includes a 4-week class of coming when called (Red Rover), loose leash walking (Follow Me), stationary training (Red Light-Green Light) or polite greetings (Mother May I?) class. It is your choice! For a total of 6-week fun and skill building learning! This "Concentration" class is a pre-requisite for the other classes in the Training Games Series. SIMON SAYS: Sit, stand, and all that jazz.

New to training? Unable to get your dog sit or down? Need some help trouble shooting the basics? This class is for you! Our certified dog trainer will provide guidance and support on training the fundamental positions and learn the many techniques used to train them through positive reinforcement. MOTHER MAY I? The first step to a courteous canine is self-control.

This class is perfect for adolescents and dogs whose impulse control could use some polishing. In this 4-week class, you will learn how to teach your dog to greet people politely, "wait", and "leave". You will also gain the knowledge of how to use your body language to influence your dog's behavior. Download registration form here

FOLLOW ME: Enjoy walks with your dog again!

Does it feel like your dog is taking you for a walk instead of the other way around? Does it seem like you are invisible to your dog the moment you hit the sidewalk or trail? If so, this class is for you! This specialized 4-week class teaches you techniques to become proficient at loose leash walking with your dog and increase his or her attention around distractions. This class will strengthen your mechanical and motivational skills so future walks will be more pleasurable. First class is without dogs, for handlers only.  Download registration form here

RED ROVER! Teach your dog to come whenever and wherever reliably!

Teaching your dog to come when called enthusiastically and immediately is an important skill every dog should learn. It might end up saving his or her life! Not only does a speedy recall allow your dog more fun and freedom, it gives you piece of mind that your dog will return when asked. In this 4-week class, you will learn ways to build focus and a variety of techniques to teach a reliable recall, even around distractions. If you have already begun teaching coming when called, but having difficulty around distractions or if this is a new skill you want to teach your dog, this class is for you! RED LIGHT – GREEN LIGHT: Creating an "On" and "Off" switch for your dog

This class will cover stationary positions "stay" and go to "place" and teaches the game of tug including "give". This 4-week class will teach you how to help your dog understand when it is appropriate to get revved up and when to settle down. Download registration form here

TRICKS AND GAMES! Fun for you and your dog!
Tricks? Why would you want to teach your dog to "bow" or "back up"? So many reasons! Teaching your dog tricks will increase your dog's mental stimulation, sharpen your training skills, strengthen your relationship and communication skills with each other, gives your dog something fun to do instead of the unwanted behavior, and much more! In this play-filled 4-week class, you will learn how to teach spin, nose and mat targeting, bow, beg, crawl, back up, scent games, tug, agility activities, and more. This class is open to dogs of all ages, reactive or dogs who have displayed aggression in the past must be pre-approved by instructor before joining class.

Silver Muzzles! Enrichment and stimulation for your senior dog

This 4-week class will help provide mental and physical enrichment for your aging best friend. Class includes scent games, trick training, puzzle toys, low level obstacles, and bodywork to keep your senior dogs mind and body active and happy. Dogs must be 7 years and older (with veterinarian approval) and be able to work safely around people and dogs on leash.

TTOUCH: Build confidence and cooperation in your dog

Join Dog-Ed to learn about Tellington TTouch. TTouch is a unique approach to training based on compassion and respect for our animal friends. Using a specific form of bodywork and specialized movement exercises, the TTouch Method promotes cooperation, well-being and improved behavior by reducing stress and physical tension.

 

The TTouch 7-week training class is open to dogs of all ages and personalities. First class no dogs. This class will teach unique methods to build strength and resilience in a senior dog, settle and focus in an adolescent dog, build confidence and cooperation in a puppy, and increase acceptance of handling and husbandry activities. Each week you will learn different bodywork techniques as well as explore new obstacles in the "Confidence Course". Applying these innovative techniques to your daily life will improve your dog's physical and mental well-being while deepening your bond with your special companion. This class allows for plenty of individual work, as well as helpful hands on group activities.
